Manoj Night Shyamalan is from Palghat, it is on the border to Tamilnadu, but defenitely in Kerala and his middle name is Nelliyat which he changed to Night for easiness. Then about A.R.Rehman, his father is from Kerala, a hindu who converted to Islam and ARR is now a devout Muslim who was brought up in Madras. This is for your information. We are not taking the credit from our tamil neighbours. I am just stating the facts. I don't think there is any hatred between Tamils and Keralites, other than what we see on net. All of us are Indians and that should be the spirit. Jai Hind.

A.R Rehman :

Rahman was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India to a musical Mudaliar[citation needed] Tamil family. His father, R. K. Shekhar, was a film-score composer and conductor for Tamil and Malayalam films; Rahman assisted his father in the studio, playing the keyboard. After his father's death when Rahman was nine years old, the rental of his father's musical equipment provided his family's income.[11] Raised by his mother, Kareema (born Kashturi),[1] Rahman was a keyboard player and arranger for bands such as Roots (with childhood friend and percussionist Sivamani, John Anthony, Suresh Peters, JoJo and Raja)[3] and founded the Chennai-based rock group Nemesis Avenue.[12] He mastered the keyboard, piano, synthesizer, harmonium and guitar, and was particularly interested in the synthesizer because it was the "ideal combination of music and technology".[13]
Since some Keralites in other blogs are claiming sole credit for Arundhati Roy, ill clarify it too.
Arundhati Roy :

Arundhati Roy was born in Shillong, Meghalaya, India,[4] to Rajib Roy, a Bengali Hindu tea plantation manager from Calcutta and Mary Roy, a Malayali Syrian Christian women's rights activist from Kerala.[5] When she was two, her parents divorced and she returned with her mother and brother to Kerala.[5] For a time, the family lived with Roy's maternal grandfather in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. When she was 5, the family moved back to Kerala, where her mother started a school.[5]
Roy attended school at Corpus Christi, Kottayam, followed by the Lawrence School, Lovedale, in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. She then studied architecture at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, where she met architect Gerard da Cunha. The two lived together in Delhi, and then Goa, before they broke up.[
She is 50% Bengali , 50% Malayali .
